SIM
Ambients
Create and tune ambient condition inputs for 4ACE simulation setup.
Ambients are reusable SIM inputs for air, wind, and track condition assumptions. Simulations select an ambient with the vehicle and driver. FastSim also selects a circuit. OpenSim also selects a driver input.
Use ambients when you need to compare conditions such as air temperature, track temperature, wind, humidity, pressure, or global grip.
Before you start
- Select the correct team.
- Create, edit, duplicate, and delete actions depend on module permissions.
- Decide how the team names weather, session, or track-condition baselines.
Create an ambient
- Open Ambients from the sidebar.
- Select New.
- Enter Name.
- Add Notes when the condition needs context.
- Add Tags when the team filters ambients by event, session, or condition.
- Save the ambient.
The ambient appears in the Ambients table and in simulation ambient selectors for the active team.
Edit ambient metadata
- Open Ambients.
- Select the row action for the ambient.
- Choose Edit.
- Update name, notes, or tags.
- Save the changes.
Tune ambient conditions
- Open Ambients.
- Select the ambient row.
- Review Environmental rows on the detail page.
- Edit the condition values that should represent the session or baseline.
- Save with Update Data when the action appears.
Ambient fields
| Field | What it means | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Name | Ambient condition name. | Required. |
| Notes | Team context for weather, session, source, or baseline. | Optional. |
| Tags | Labels used for filtering and organization. | Optional. |
Environmental parameters
| Parameter | Description | Units | Default | Validation / Range |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Temperature | Ambient air temperature. | °C | 20 | -50 to 100 |
| Pressure | Ambient air pressure. | Pa | 1013 | 0 to 200000 |
| Humidity | Ambient air relative humidity. | % | 50 | 0 to 100 |
| Wind Speed | Wind speed or strength. | m/s | 5 | 0 to 50 |
| Wind Direction | Wind direction. Zero degrees means headwind at the start of the lap. Angle increases clockwise when the track is viewed from above. | ° | 180 | 0 to 360 |
| Track Temperature | Track surface temperature. | °C | 22 | -50 to 100 |
| Track Global Grip | Global gain that scales grip around the track. It is multiplied by local grip levels and tire gains or scalings. | n/a | 0.8 | 0.1 to 3 |
Use an ambient in simulations
- FastSim requires Vehicle, Circuit, Ambient, and Driver.
- OpenSim requires Vehicle, Ambient, Driver, and Driver Input.
- Credit estimates need an ambient before calculation can run.
- Use separate ambients when comparing condition changes against the same vehicle, driver, and circuit.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | What to check |
|---|---|
| New is hidden | Confirm your role has module create permission. |
| Cannot save metadata | Check required name and any visible validation errors. |
| Cannot save condition changes | Fix validation errors in Environmental rows before selecting Update Data. |
| Ambient is missing from simulation setup | Confirm the correct team is active and the ambient exists in that team. |
| Credit estimate does not appear | Select the required simulation setup inputs, including ambient. |
