Set up a vehicle

Create a 4ACE vehicle by selecting required setup submodules for simulation work.

Use this how-to when you need a simulation-ready vehicle assembly. Vehicle setup connects reusable Design modules to one vehicle record so FastSim, OpenSim, and analysis pages can use the same setup baseline.

Before you start

Select the correct team.
Create the required submodules from Design before creating the vehicle.
You need module create permission to create a vehicle.
You need module update permission to edit vehicle metadata or assembly selections.

Create the vehicle

Open Vehicles from the sidebar.
Select New.
Enter Name.
Enter Short Name. Short name is limited to 7 characters.
Add Notes if the team needs context for the baseline.
Optionally upload a PNG, JPEG, or JPG image up to 5 MB.
Open Vehicle Assembly.
Select every required module:
- Body.
- Suspension Front.
- Suspension Rear.
- Steering.
- Brakes.
- Drivetrain.
- Aerodynamics.
- Tire Front Left.
- Tire Front Right.
- Tire Rear Left.
- Tire Rear Right.
Save the vehicle.

Update vehicle assembly

Open Vehicles.
Select the vehicle row.
Use the Vehicle tab to edit name, short name, notes, image, tags, or module selections.
Change a module selector in the vehicle modules table.
Save metadata changes with Update Data when the floating action appears.

Changing a module selector updates the vehicle assembly. It does not edit the selected module's parameter values.

Review selected modules

Vehicle detail pages include tabs for the selected modules:

Aerodynamics.
Bodies.
Brakes.
Drivetrains.
Steerings.
Suspension Front.
Suspension Rear.
Tires Front Left.
Tires Front Right.
Tires Rear Left.
Tires Rear Right.

Open these tabs when you need to inspect or update module parameters without leaving the vehicle context.

Check that it works

The vehicle is ready for simulation setup when every assembly slot has a selected module and the vehicle appears in simulation vehicle selectors.

Troubleshooting

Problem	What to check
Cannot save a new vehicle	Confirm every required assembly slot has a selected module.
Short name error	Keep Short Name at 7 characters or fewer.
Image upload fails	Use PNG, JPEG, or JPG and keep the file at 5 MB or less.
Module selector is empty	Create that module type in Design for the active team.
Cannot change a module	Confirm your role has module update permission.
