Analyze simulation telemetry

Detailed Analysis helps race engineers inspect telemetry from completed simulations. Use it to compare laps, overlay simulations, read cursor values, and connect trace changes to setup or driving changes.

Before you start

• Select the correct team.
• Use a completed simulation with telemetry output.
• Load or create an analysis layout.
• Use comparison simulations that are relevant to the question you are answering. The comparison dialog can filter by circuit, vehicle, creator, date range, and tags.

Open Detailed Analysis from a simulation

1. Open Simulations.
2. Select a completed simulation.
3. Open the Analysis tab.
4. Load or create a layout.
5. Select a lap in the Simulations panel.
6. Turn channels on or off in the Channels panel.

The selected lap appears in the chart area. Cursor values appear in Cursor Data, and the circuit marker appears in Track Map when track data is available.

Analyze selected simulations from the list

1. Open Simulations and check one or more completed simulations.
2. Choose Analyze simulations in the selection toolbar.
3. Load or create a layout if needed, then select laps and channels.

The first checked simulation in the current table order becomes the locked primary simulation. The other checked simulations load as comparisons, and the Analysis tab opens directly. Only checked rows included in the current filtered page are used. All selected simulations must be completed.

Only the primary simulation's Lap 0 is checked automatically when available. Comparison laps remain unchecked. If the primary has no Lap 0, no other lap is selected automatically.

You can open the Analyze link in a new tab or reload the destination without losing the primary and comparison simulations.

Open Detailed Analysis from the sidebar

1. Open Analysis > Detailed Analysis.
2. Select Import Simulation.
3. Use filters when needed:
   • Circuit.
   • Vehicle.
   • Created By.
   • Date Range.
   • Tags.
4. Select one or more simulations.
5. Select Compare.
6. Load or create a layout.
7. Select laps and channels.

When Detailed Analysis is opened from the sidebar, the first selected simulation becomes the primary simulation. Additional selected simulations become comparison simulations.

Compare simulations

1. In Detailed Analysis, select Add Simulation Comparison.
2. Review the prefilled filters. By default, 4ACE can prefill circuit and vehicle from the primary simulation.
3. Change filters when you need a wider or narrower comparison set.
4. Select simulations from the results list.
5. Select Compare.
6. Select laps for each loaded simulation.

The lap list groups laps by simulation. Comparison simulations show loading and retry states when their data is still being fetched.

Use the analysis workspace

Work with reference laps and delta

Lap checkboxes control trace visibility. Flags select the delta baseline independently, including laps whose checkboxes are unchecked. The first selected lap becomes the initial reference once; it is not necessarily the fastest. Click the active flag to clear the reference.

Flags stay visible beside every lap; the filled flag identifies the reference. Scroll the simulations list horizontally to read long names, lap times and flags in a narrow pane. Hiding or showing laps, even hiding every lap, does not change an established reference. A hidden reference stays loaded for delta calculation but does not appear as a trace, overview series or cursor column.

When Delta Time is visible, each visible lap is compared with the reference. Choosing a new reference removes the old delta while the new baseline loads; other telemetry remains available. The lap and simulation rows show loading and retryable failures. A lap missing usable time or distance channels shows unavailable-delta feedback. A comparison missing these channels has no delta, rather than a zero trace. Removing the reference simulation clears the choice with an explanation, without selecting a replacement.

Shared links and refreshes preserve visible laps and the independent reference, including intentionally empty selections. Legacy links without an explicit reference keep the initial first-selection default. Invalid or unavailable linked references are cleared with an explanation, not replaced.
