Run OpenSim

Run an OpenSim simulation using vehicle, ambient, driver, and Driver Input timelines.

OpenSim is the open simulation type in 4ACE SIM. It does not use a circuit selector. Instead, it uses a Driver Input that prescribes throttle, brake, steer angle, and optional gear timelines.

Use OpenSim when you need to test a vehicle response against known control traces rather than a full circuit lap.

Before you start

Run OpenSim

  1. Open Simulations from the sidebar.
  2. Select New.
  3. In General, choose OpenSim.
  4. Add Name, Notes, or Tags when useful.
  5. Continue to Setup.
  6. Select Vehicle.
  7. Select Ambient.
  8. Select Driver.
  9. Select Driver Input.
  10. Review the Driver Input preview.
  11. Continue to Settings.
  12. Review Credit Consumption in the sheet header.
  13. Set the shared simulation settings.
  14. Optional: turn on Save these settings as team defaults.
  15. Select Add simulation.

When you switch to OpenSim, the circuit selection is cleared because OpenSim does not use a circuit input.

Start GearGear at simulation start.11 to the selected vehicle's gear count, up to 8.
Duration (s)Simulation duration.Driver Input durationSet from the selected Driver Input timeline and disabled in the form.

OpenSim uses the end time of the selected Driver Input as the simulation duration.

Driver Input preview

The setup step shows a preview after you select a Driver Input:

  • Timeline length.
  • Gear mode: model-handled or specified by Driver Input.
  • Number of visible channels.
  • Charts for throttle, brake, steer angle, and gear when gear is enabled.

Check the result

  1. Open the simulation from the Simulations table.
  2. Wait for status to reach Completed.
  3. Open Summary for metadata, resource usage, and performance data when available.
  4. Open Analysis to inspect telemetry.
  5. Open Configuration to confirm selected inputs and settings.
