Run Batch Simulations
Create a 4ACE simulation batch from setup inputs, parameter ranges, and generated designs.
Batch Simulations generate multiple simulation runs from one setup and a design space. Use them when you need to compare vehicle or ambient parameter changes across many runs instead of creating each simulation manually.
Batch Simulations currently generate a full factorial design matrix from selected parameter levels.
Before you start
- Select the correct team.
- Confirm the team has enough credits for the included designs.
- Prepare required setup inputs for FastSim or OpenSim.
- You need the required module permissions to create, edit, duplicate, delete, or queue batches.
- Decide which ambient or vehicle parameters you want to vary.
Create a batch
- Open Batch Simulations from the sidebar.
- Select New.
- In General, choose FastSim or OpenSim.
- Enter Name. Name must be 2 to 100 characters.
- Add Notes or Tags when useful.
- Continue to Setup.
- Select simulation inputs:
- FastSim: Vehicle, Circuit, Ambient, and Driver.
- OpenSim: Vehicle, Ambient, Driver, and Driver Input.
- Save the setup to create the draft batch.
- Continue to Simulation Settings.
- Set simulation settings.
- Save settings when you changed them.
- Continue to Design Space.
The design-space steps become available after 4ACE has a saved draft batch.
Define design space
- Open Ambient Parameters or Vehicle Parameters.
- Add a parameter.
- Enter Lower.
- Enter Upper.
- Enter Levels.
- Repeat for each parameter you want to vary.
- Select Save to generate designs.
Parameter scenario fields
| Field | What it means | Validation / Range |
|---|---|---|
| Parameter | Ambient or vehicle parameter selected from available batch parameters. | Required. A parameter can be selected once per parameter group. |
| Unit | Unit from the parameter information. | Read-only. |
| Lower | Low value for generated designs. | Must be less than Upper. |
| Upper | High value for generated designs. | Must be greater than Lower. |
| Levels | Number of values generated between Lower and Upper. | Whole number, at least 2. |
Because the design matrix is full factorial, the number of designs grows as parameter levels multiply. For example, three parameters with two levels each create eight designs.
Review generated simulations
The Simulations step shows the generated design matrix.
Use it to:
- Review parameter values per design.
- Include or exclude individual designs.
- Save inclusion changes before queueing.
- Confirm at least one design is included.
Queue the batch
- In Simulations, choose Queue Simulations.
- Review batch name, parameter counts, total designs, included designs, excluded designs, cost, and available credits.
- Optional: turn on Save these settings as team defaults.
- Select Confirm.
Queueing is blocked when no designs are included or available credits are lower than the batch cost.
Review batch results
Pending batches reopen in the batch sheet. Completed batches open the batch detail page.
Batch statuses include:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Pending | Draft batch or waiting to run. |
| Running | Batch simulations are running. |
| Finished | Batch completed successfully. |
| Finished with errors | Batch completed with one or more failed runs. |
| Abandoned | Batch no longer continues. |
The batch detail page can include:
| Tab | Use it for |
|---|---|
| Details | Batch metadata, tags, credits consumed, and simulation settings. |
| Parallel Coordinates | Compare runs across parameters and results. |
| Results Overview | Review selected dimensions together. |
| Cross Plots | Compare dimensions against each other. |
| Main Effect | Inspect main effects across selected parameters. |
| Correlation | Review correlation between dimensions. |
| Results Table | Inspect runs and select runs for deeper analysis. |
| Analysis | Analyze selected simulations after loading them from Results Table. |
Troubleshooting
| Problem | What to check |
|---|---|
| New is hidden or batch is read-only | Confirm your role has required module permissions. |
| Cannot continue from Setup | FastSim requires Circuit. OpenSim requires Driver Input. Both require Vehicle, Ambient, and Driver. |
| Cannot reach Design Space | Save the draft batch and make sure settings are valid. |
| No designs generated | Add at least one parameter scenario and save the Design Space step. |
| Lower or upper validation fails | Lower must be less than Upper. |
| Levels validation fails | Levels must be a whole number of at least 2. |
| Queue button is disabled | Include at least one design and confirm enough credits are available. |
| Batch detail shows no results | Wait for the batch to finish. If all runs failed or timed out, no result charts are available. |
